Administering the Courts

The Department of Attorney General and Justice is responsible for administering the New South Wales court system. The Department also provides alternative dispute resolution services for people who wish to resolve their own disputes through Community Justice Centres.

Most people who come into contact with our court system do so at the Local Court level. It is the court of general access in New South Wales and provides a range of services to the community. There are other jurisdictions within the NSW court system which also play a vital role in providing justice for people, listed below.
