NSW Criminal Courts Statistics
The statistics presents information on the characteristics of defendants dealt with by NSW criminal courts. This includes information on the offences, bail status, case outcomes and sentences associated with those defendants. These data are collected from the courts and maintained by the Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research.
The following table provides information on defendants who had criminal cases finalised within the Higher, Local and Children's Courts. Data is available on:
- types of charges finalised in NSW Criminal Courts;
- bail status of defendants;
- demographic characteristics of defendants, including their gender, age, Indigenous status;
- penalties imposed on those defendants found guilty;
- court delay;
- the number of Apprehended Violence Orders (AVOs) granted by the courts;
- appeal cases finalised in the District Court;
- domestic violence and child sexual assault offences.

In 2019 BOCSAR commenced releasing the Criminal Court
Statistics bi-annually (for both calendar and financial year). In 2015 the
Criminal Court Statistics moved from a pdf report to an Excel file.
