Interactive map of non-domestic assaults in Sydney

Non-domestic assaults, particularly alcohol related incidents, have long been the source of community discussion and media attention. This has increased since the 'lockout an last drinks' laws were introduced to the Sydney CBD and Kings Cross in February 2014 (see here for past BOCSAR information on this issue).

The Sydney Local Government Area (LGA) had 3,142 non-domestic violence related assaults in the year to March 2016, which is 10.2% of the NSW total.  In Sydney LGA alcohol related assaults make up nearly half of all non-domestic assaults (48.1%); this is considerably more than the NSW average across which is only 33.5%. The interactive map below shows the location of incidents of non-domestic violence related assault in and around the Sydney Local Government Area (LGA) which occurred between April 2015 and March 2016. There are two layers, one for alcohol related incidents and one for non-alcohol related incidents.  The map allows you to look at either the alcohol or non-alcohol related incidents, or both at the same time. The number of incidents at each location is available in a pop-up window when you click on one of the symbols. Incidents occurring at residential premises have been removed to protect privacy.
