Twitter policy


The Twtter account (@BOCSAR) is managed by the NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research (BOCSAR), Dept of Communities and Justice. All posts are managed by our Information team, on behalf of colleagues across BOCSAR and are apolitical. You can expect information about some or all the following:

  • BOCSAR press releases

  • Information on what we are up to (seminars and conferences)

  • Statistics on crime and criminal justice issues in NSW

BOCSAR is not responsible or associated with any retweets, mentions or reposts made by external accounts. Note that the accounts followed by BOCSAR do not imply an endorsement of any kind and we are not responsible for the content of external accounts.

By submitting content to BOCSAR's twitter, you understand and acknowledge that this information is available to the public and is considered a public record.

Unacceptable behaviour will not be tolerated. We reserve the sole right to review, hide or delete comments and block or report accounts deemed inappropriate. This includes but is not limited to the following behaviours and content:

  • Spam or posting promotional material and links

  • Harassment, abuse, bullying, threats, discrimination, violence, swearing or defaming

  • Violations of privacy of departmental staff, members, clients or stakeholders

  • Legal advice, or details of pending, current or finalised legal matters

  • Every effort is made to ensure the contents on our social media platform are accurate and complete. However we cannot guarantee that there are no errors or omissions 

  • Content that may or would constitute a criminal offence or give rise to civil liability, or that otherwise violates any local, provincial, national or international law or regulation in the world (or encourage others to do so)

The account is not monitored regularly and is not the platform in which we provide service.
