The first chart shows the rate of murder victimisation in NSW.

Chart 2 shows the number of murder victims by victim gender and by whether the incident was flagged by the NSW Police as 'domestic violence related'. NSW Police flag domestic violence in accordance with the Crimes (Domestic and Personal Violence) Act 2007. This definition is broader than intimate partner violence includes family and household relationships.

Next we examine the nature of the relationship between the victim and the offender, breaking down 'domestic-violence related’ murder into more detail for male and female victims

Chart 4 shows the age distribution of murder victims by victim/offender relationship.

Finally, Chart 5 shows the age distribution of offenders (persons proceeded against by police for murder) by the type of relationship between the victim and offender.
